This is a fluxgate magnetometer that is pointed north. It reports the current variation from normal magnetic flux. Negative deflections indicate an increase in solar wind activity. Severe (-180nT/min) deflections indicate CME impacts. Normal variations for calm conditions is +-5 nT. This page refreshes every 30 seconds.
